VHX6: What changes does VirtualHostX make to my system?

Last Updated April 20, 2015

VirtualHostX changes three files on your system.

First, when you run the Setup Wizard, VirtualHostX adds this line

Include /private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf

to your apache httpd.conf file. The location of that file depends on which server you have selected in VirtualHostX's Preferences. For Apple's built-in Apache, that file is

/private/etc/apache2/httpd.conf

For MAMP that file is

/Applications/MAMP/conf/apache/httpd.conf

After that, whenever you click "Apply Changes", VirtualHostX modifies the following two files

/private/etc/apache2/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf
/private/etc/hosts
